Great interview and explanation
Thanks Ach for this surprise interview with Kiritbhai (Niyati’s masa) a genius and most acclaimed in the family, lucky to have this couple amongst us.
JAp need a stromg leader....b sovereign get US bases OUT of JAPAN .!!!!!
Stumbled upon UCSD. His talkings almost pass for resembling Blinken and Sullivan. US International Order is a US conceived unipolar world where the US makes the orders and order everyone around. In that world, Japan is at the core of being ordered around. It is a US military occupied country, its politics captured so are its media, education, foreign policies, now even defense policies. Worse, its population has been culturally brainwashed. 1% Japanese are christians but 50% hold wedding ceremonies in a church and the whole country celebrate Christmas for no particular reasons. Disney's Frozen stormed Japan in 2013 that almost every kid could sing Let It Go. Harley Davidson gangs roam Japanese roads in pre-owned US pilot jackets. In the 80s, Japan's rise was seen as a threat by the US and the West. The Plaza Accord was the order they gave Japan. Japan suffered 30 years of economic stagnation as a result. Currently in the US world, G7 accounts for 30% of world economic output and 12% of population, BRICS accounts 42% and 51% just with its 10 member countries so far. 85% of the world do not like US International order and that is obvious. What do Americans gain from the emperors of the empire? Unaffordable rent, unpayable mortgage, unqulifiable insurance, homeless, hunger, armed robberies, strikes, inflation, non-stop wars and mentally ill veterans. Is the situation in Japan a lot better?
great video
Good to have views from the very experienced academic experts. However, I would think maybe very use if could use "Chinese frameworks" to analyze how China would position herself and react. For example, if using Sun Tsu "Art of War" approach, what would China do? This could be more interesting and revealing.
No. The simple truth is that the Anglo-Saxon Western world divided the Middle East region based on ridiculous biblical stories and narratives. That's why you find countries existence like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, the Zionist entity, etc. The problem here is that this region is not the Middle East to begin with. And it is not the biblical land from the beginning. Rather, it is in another place and another region? Believe it or not!! These fools made a big mistake here. And their belief that this is the Holy Land is a very ridiculous and wrong belief. They fell short in this matter. They spent huge amounts of money, killed literally millions, and destroyed the fate of entire populations and societies throughout the past century and until now, for the sake of stupid lies and distorted perceptions, nothing more, nothing less. Funny, huh? Their Perceptions do not match reality.
I disagree with Kessler's idea of oppression because the cultural system is very different from the individualistic system in America that leads people to homelessness and food insecurity. Family unity and country unity are emphasized to reduces social hazards, especially in these days of climate change.

"Aftermath"? What an intriguing choice of word by a supposedly reputed think tank and academic society/club from a regime where the English language is the de facto official language across the board of all trades.
Интересно. Спасибо. Привет с Украины
The China and Korean education willingly ignores this to be taught in history in order to create anti japanese racism as a legitimate idea. The irony is mao did actually made support japanese communists . But many Chinese and koreans are loossely taught to hate everyone being japanese regardless of japanese diversity in politics and the fact how the imperialist establishment was spared. This has been scrapped in Chinese history books as a focus in history curriculum.
Absolutely insane, disgustingly deliberate, and elitist, that there is no recognition of the absence of a youthful and working-class, community presence in this dialogue. What a travesty, and what class, status, and racial prejudice. Inexcusable.
Yep! Many Latinos are naturally conservative. I bet even illegals who managed to become Legal will vote for Trump to remove illegals.
They have already.
San Diego LOL
Yep, a'nudder white male absolving half the population of any duty or responsibility to the next generation.
Are there any groups (ethnicities, races etc.) that are currently excluded from the political process? If not, then the 'inclusion' rhetoric appears hollow. The equality language also seems ill-defined. The fellow's position would be better crafted if he avoided the banal and focused on concepts like transparency in and through the political landscape.
Hello from Japan! This was extremely good! Great detail to understand the electoral situation over here
Can't wait to see a prophet following a profit.
One can reject GDP as not the best model for economic standing, but then what is the measurement: GO (Gross Output: total economic activity in the production of new goods and services in an accounting period)? Japan doesn't fare so well there either. Whatever comparative standard opted for, Japan is not what it once was. There will be no return to the 60s through 1980s. Hyper-financialization has an effect. Dept ratio to GDP has an effect: Japan is currently around 255%? National industrial policy that has guided post-war Japan doesn't lend itself to entrepreneurs and flexibility that seem the hallmarks of the technological revolution. There is also Japan's demographic implosion. Per geo-politics: Japan has no real Pacific Rim allies. Then there is the cultural sphere, yamato-damashii has been replaced by a cuteness model. Softness, and passivity are normative. The cultural roots and strengths of Japan have been covered for a long long time and likely won't reemerge unless a true national tragedy were to engulf the country.
No deben meter las narices. En otros países opinen sobre los problemas qué hay en Estados Unidos. Cada país tiene sus propias reformas.

Professor Driscoll, I appreciate your work very much.
Wonderful person, empathetic teacher, and an excellent political scientist in search of the truth. Inspiring.
The US is imposing its will on the world through fear-by the threat of violence, unilateral sanctions, or covert operations. It uses allies to provide political cover for its numerous wars. Many of its vassals host U.S. troops and are required to contribute to part of their upkeep. The concept of being a superpower reflects the Western scarcity-driven, win-lose mindset. At the same time, much of the Eastern worldview (excluding Japan) embraces abundance and win-win cooperation. Pursuing superpower status is costly and unnecessary in a framework focused on shared growth and collaboration. Scarcity-driven win-lose strategies reflect a narrow, short-term view that assumes limited resources and competition are necessary. In contrast, abundance-driven win-win strategies align with a broader, long-term perspective, recognizing that collaboration leads to greater and more sustainable rewards in a vast, interconnected universe. The universe offers ample opportunities for mutual growth, making win-win strategies more effective in the long run. The West's holy books recount numerous instances where they followed God's instructions to carry out massacres against other races, as well as the consequences they faced for not fully obeying those instructions. It calls for the total destruction of the loser, no quarters. The win-win mindset of the Chinese government explains why, despite having a per capita GDP that is less than one-sixth that of the US, we observe them enthusiastically building infrastructures all over the world that raise the standard of living for people in the global majority. Anywhere in the world, if there is a border dispute, it is usually the result of a line drawn by an Englishman; if it is an internal dispute, it is usually the US fueling it. Difference in implementation of divide and conquer strategy. Regardless of who is elected president, millions of Americans will continue to enjoy these long-standing benefits of democracy, freedom, and human rights: Economic inequality, persistent inflation, stagnant wages, soaring healthcare costs, a student loan debt crisis nearing $1.7 trillion, and an education system burdened by increasingly unaffordable tuition. Inadequate public transportation, racial inequality, mass incarceration, militarized policing, deteriorating infrastructure, unaffordable housing, homelessness, the opioid epidemic, and rampant gun violence. The Chinese government denies its citizens-and an increasing number of people in other countries-the chance to experience the "benefits" of the challenges that U.S. citizens face. Although the United States is the world's wealthiest nation with unmatched military power, it does not prioritize addressing these systemic problems. For many, the normalization of such inequality and hardship has become accepted in daily life, raising urgent questions about the government's role in fostering a more equitable and just society. When a government allows these persistent issues to remain unresolved, it risks losing legitimacy and trust in the eyes of its citizens. If a country cannot care for its citizens, its leadership role in global affairs becomes questionable. If the main duty of a government is the well-being of the majority of its citizens, then the greatest threat to the United States may lie in how it is governed. Instead of prioritizing the welfare of its people, the US meddles in other countries to spread its version of democracy. The question is whether the USA can continue to survive with its version of democracy, not whether it can have any leadership role in the global order. World's biggest debtor vs the world's biggest creditor. Lawyers are playing Tic-Tac-Toe while engineers are playing GO. The U.S. is the world's largest debtor, with a NIIP (Net International Investment Position) of -$16 trillion. China (including Hong Kong) is the largest creditor, with a NIIP of $4.3 trillion, followed by Japan, Germany, and Taiwan. The U.S. last had a positive NIIP in 1988 and a trade surplus in 1975. The U.S. debt grows by about $5-7 billion daily, and the trade deficit averages $2-3 billion per day. Some in the West believe they will continue dominating the world because God is on their side. Their historical success is preordained and inevitable, and their superior culture gave them a moral imperative to intervene in global affairs. The US and its allies do not recognize the legitimacy of the Godless Chinese government and will use all possible means to change it. China has observed the following pattern in US Foreign Policy. Since WWII, the United States has started 201 wars, overthrew 36 foreign leaders, killed or attempted to kill 50, dropped bombs in 30 countries, and interfered in 86 foreign elections. To make the world safe for democracy, the US has caused the deaths of tens of millions of people in its conflicts in Korea, Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria. The CIA was involved in covert operations that resulted in mass killings of communists in over 22 countries, 500,000 to 2,000,000 Indonesian civilians disappeared in 1965-1966. The 'Arsenal of Democracy' produces 40 percent of the world's weapons. It is a very profitable business model in which other countries buy these weapons to fight each other. The key is maximizing profits without shedding US blood by inducing conflicts between and within countries outside the USA. One client is eager to spend AUD 368 billion to buy a few high-quality used nuclear-powered submarines. This business model's critical components are NATO, QUAD, ANZUS, Five Eyes, AUKUS, and MCC (Mutual Cross-Service Agreement).

I agree with Fareed's outlook and a new path in US-China relationship. I hope the world leaders should have learned that there is no such thing as winning a world war after 2 trials. My view is a PUSH-PULL mechanism using the economic trade platform to achieve a balance US and China. A deep understanding of Chinese culture is helpful in achieving this balance.

If China government has no good connection with Intellectuals, how did China made big progress within 30 years? If US government has good communication with US intellectuals, why is the US debt so high? Why did us involved in so many wars?
